There are two days left in the school year, which means that it is two days until 3/4ths of my household shift into summer vacation mode.
(My husband works at an elementary school in our district, which is super helpful in many ways but also gives me at least one tiny moment of jealousy on the first day of summer break when I’m heading into work at my usual time. Thankfully I like my job and the moment passes pretty quickly)
This weekend is also my son’s birthday, which we are celebrating by being at an all day soccer tournament where I am hoping all my usual hopes: his team plays well, nobody gets hurt, I don’t get sunburn, and that I’m sitting far enough away on the sidelines that I don’t get hit by ball if I happen to glance down at my phone for a minute.
(I’m head injury and sunburn free after game #1, so feeling good so far!)
It always feels like a bit of a limp across the finish line at this time of year, so please forgive this mostly low effort post and enjoy some linky links of things I was into this week when I wasn’t nagging children about turning in late assignments and watching soccer:
An amusing Reddit thread about people who were their own worst enemies when it came to winning their legal cases, as told by lawyers and paralegals
I love other people’s drama and HOO BOY, each email in this post about a bride who has lost her ever loving mind is somehow more jaw dropping than the one before it.
I can’t decide if this cottage is amazingly close to the ocean or terrifyingly close to the ocean, but I’d be very happy to rent it for a week.
A look at the relationship between the menstrual cycle and ADHD that is also another reminder that there is still SO MUCH about women’s health and hormones that we simply do not know
The Quilters is a moving short documentary on Netflix that is really about the power of having a purpose and the ability to create and about how people are often so much more than their worst mistake
A second season of America’s Sweethearts is coming! Yes, I am ready to be sucked back in and also ready to be annoyed by at least three things per episode/
That wedding shaming post was absolutely unhinged (there's no way it's real, right?) and it reminded me of the book Hey Ladies by Michelle Markowitz and Caroline Moss - a very fun, very quick read.
Is the only Catholic bridesmaids a real thing? I've never heard of a church having that rule. And that bride would never be hearing from me again!
